The end of the season

After much deliberation, it has been decided that it is too cold for any more movies, and although we like to end with a Halloween movie, Steve has no desire to set up and take down in the cold.
So until Old Man Winter has come and gone, Castle Movie Nights will be in hibernation.

Encore Presentation - The Avengers - 10.6.12

Marvel's The Avengers was such a huge success last week (approximately 80 friends and neighbors) and we had many who informed us that they were unable to attend, we have decided to show The Avengers again - Saturday October 6, 2012 following the Priesthood session of General Conference.
Movie will start around 8:30 PM - Popcorn will be provided!! other treats/donations are welcome!

The Avengers - Saturday September 29th

We will be watching Marvel's the Avengers Saturday September 29th following the General Women's session of conference - at approximately 8:15-8:30 PM.

Come enjoy an enjoyable evening under the stars watching our favorite Super Heroes save the world!

If you haven't seen Captain America and Thor, it is highly recommended that you do. Iron Man 1 and 2 introduce characters but is definitely geared toward an older,  more mature audience, so watch at own discretion.

Saturday September 22nd

Weather permitting we will be watching Thor at 8 PM with 3 Minnion Shorts starting at 7:45!

We watched
Captain America and now comes Thor in preparation for Marvel's The Avengers coming soon to DVD!!

Also: Movie nights are quickly coming to an end - you won't want to miss our Halloween build up!!
Last movie night of the year will be the Friday/Saturday before Halloween.

Movie Before School Resumes

It has been decided that Friday August 17th will be another Movie Night! Figured we have to do one as a Go Back to School Celebration, right? Not sure what the movie will be - can't think of any back to school themed movies. If you have any suggestions - email them to us at

August 11th - Mirror Mirror

Weather permitting we will be watching Mirror Mirror Saturday August 11th. Movie will begin as soon as it is dark enough - around 9:15.


Mirror Mirror is a Snow White Story - Julia Roberts plays the wicked stepmother, Lily Collins plays Snow White - you have a prince, 7 dwarfs, otherwise the story is completely different that the story you remember. HILARIOUS! Rated PG and is approximately 106 minutes long.

The movie season is fast approaching come join us for a night of fun before time runs out for Castle Movie Nights 2012!!

Apologies and Friday July 20th Movie in the Works

For those who were planning on the Friday the 13th showing of Freaky Friday - we apologize for the cancellation - weather was iffy and we did not want to take the chance of putting up the screen and having it blow over or electronic equipment getting wet and ruined.

We are planning on watching a movie this coming Friday - July 20th!

A Walt Disney film  -  rated G - Wild Hearts Can''t Be Broken. According to IMDb, (1990-2012) "This is the story of Sonora Webster, a teenage runaway during the Depression. Her life's ambition is to travel to Atlantic City, where "all your dreams come true." After leaving home she accepts a job from Dr. Carver and his girl-and-horse high diving act. Starting out as a stable hand her goal is to become a real diving girl. Dr. Carver's son, Al, helps her in her quest by helping her tame a wild horse she's named Lightning. Their early morning practices lead not only to Sonora being put into training as a diving girl, but also for Al's emotions for Sonora to begin to surface. Al leaves after an argument with his father and the diver girl, Marie, is injured in a practice. Sonora finally takes her place and becomes a real diving girl. The act is thriving but fairgrounds are suffering hard times and the show is closed. Al comes back with the surprise revelation of getting the act booked in Atlantic City. Dr. Carver passes away en route to New Jersey and Al takes over. He asks Sonora to marry him before her first jump in her dream city. She accepts but then has an accident in the dive that leaves her permanently blind. Al will not let her do the show and brings Marie back to take her place. Sonora does not want to sit on the sidelines anymore and takes matters into her own hands. Practicing all day to finally make it back up the ladder, she has Marie locked in her trailer while she makes the jump to prove to everyone and herself that she can do it and without the audience ever knowing that she is blind."

July 3rd Movie

The movie has been chosen!! National Treasure - figured it was a good Independence Day movie.
Movie will begin around 9:15-9:30 - come early if you would like to visit with neighbors and friends and choice of sitting locations.
Bring your own chairs, blankets, pillows, etc and come for a grand time. Invite your neighbors!

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

was a hit! We had about 20 people show up and all seemed to have a good time!
Plans are in the works for a July 3rd showing of an "Independence Day" themed movie.
Let us know of any fun 4th of July style movies you think would be fun to see on the big screen.

Friday June 15th - CAPTAIN AMERICA

With Mykenzie's birthday coming up, we thought we would gear the movie toward her age group. The movie will start at approximately 9:30 pm. IF we decide to pull out the cotton candy machine, you must come early - we will stop making Cotton Candy at 9:15 - about 10-15 minutes before movie begins.

Movie suggestions

Our first movie night of the season was a success! We are now searching for movies to make this year's movie nights fun and exciting.
Some movies that have been suggested include -
     Rio - rated G
     Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken - rated PG
     The City of Ember - rated PG
     Cars 2 - G
     Snowball Express - G

In need of opinions about watching - 
     Captain America - rated PG 13
     Iron Man 1 &2 - rated PG 13
     The Incredible Hulk - rated PG 13
     Thor - rated PG 13
- as we anxiously await the release of The Avengers on DVD (or blu-ray) sometime in the future.

Respond to this post with movie suggestions and opinions on the build up to The Avengers with the Hero movie line-up.

Another suggestion/thought - have 2 movie nights a month where one week is the kid-friendly movies and the next is the action-packed Hero's for adults and teens.

First Movie Night of the Year

Will be Friday June 1st! We have had a couple of movie suggestions - Rocketman and Rio. Respond to this post with your preference or other suggestions.Movie will begin at dark - around 9:30 pm. There will be popcorn, otherwise it's a BYOT (bring your own treats)!

Postponed!

First movie night of the season has been postponed! The weather does not look like it is wanting to participate, the ward has scheduled their monthly temple night, and Mykin has WAY too much homework! We will try for May 25th!!

Spring has sprung and movie nights have begun

or at least they will be shortly - begin just didn't rhyme with sprung!
